An experienced and qualified marketer, Vikki Maver walks away from corporate life on a whim – fuelled by curiosity and courage to forge her own path.
She registers a business name, designs a quick VistaPrint logo and launches head-first into freelancing.
Then, what started out as a generalist marketing consultancy soon changes course. Turns out, Vikki’s all about the words.
Five years in, Vikki’s juggling a steady stream of copywriting projects. Brochures, advertisements and websites galore – the bread-and-butter wordsmithing work of the time.
Along the way, she adds a new string to her bow: training others to write, as well.
Soon – while juggling copywriting gigs – she’s also running corporate writing workshops that help teams communicate with clarity and impact.
After more than a decade of flying solo, Vikki finally hires her first staff member – and trades the home office for a real one.
Around this time, the market shifts gears: the days of one-off brochures, websites and ads are fading. Brands are learning that to build trust (and pipelines), they need consistent, quality content.
So, naturally, RM evolves right alongside them – offering strategic content marketing programs and building lasting partnerships.
The digital content boom is in full swing. Email marketing and social media are taking over. And every brand needs words that stand out – fast.
RM steps up to meet the moment, growing to a team of eight staff and managing more complex, multi-channel projects.
It’s also a year of transformation, marked by a significant rebrand and Vikki stepping back from day-to-day writing. She now empowers her team to lead major accounts with the same creativity, strategy and care that built RM’s reputation.
RM is at its largest (with a team of 14) when generative AI bursts onto the scene, sending copywriters everywhere into a spin.
But not Vikki. She sees it for what it is – a tool, not a threat.
So, while others rush to churn out more, RM doubles down on quality. The focus shifts to clients who understand the difference between content that fills space and copy that truly connects and converts.
And so the agency becomes leaner, sharper and more strategic than ever.
With the writing skills training side of the business growing by the day, Vikki decides it’s time for a spin-off project – one that lets her workshop offering stand on its own two feet.
And so, a sister business is born: Communication Skills Academy.
This move allows RM to sharpen its focus on what it’s always been known for: strategic copy and content for brands that value quality over quantity.
The team becomes smaller but stronger – working with a more selective group of clients who care deeply about getting their message and voice right.
AI is everywhere. And as brands churn out content faster than ever, quality, distinctiveness and humanity are slipping away at lightning speed.
It’s now clear that words on a page are easy. The thinking behind them is not. Thankfully, that’s always been our strength – and what our clients love us for.
So we evolve once again, rebranding and repositioning our agency to reflect our true value.
Today, we’re proud brand voice and message guardians for businesses that want to be distinctive and unmistakably human in our increasingly AI-slop-covered world.
